You’ve heard it a thousand times.
You’re new to the Affiliate Marketing world and now have this term coming out your ears.
SEO Keywords.
SEO thrown in your face. Keywords thrown in your face. WHAT IS IT? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Read on for a little explanation.
SEO is short for Search Engine Optimization. SEO represents the techniques for positioning and presenting content in order to maximize ranking on the search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo. Keywords are the terms and phrases that search engines use to connect your post to people who are searching for that information.
Search Engine Optimization keywords are keywords presented in the correct construct in order to rank your post higher on the search results list of similar posts. The concept is extremely easy, Implementing the concept is a different story.
There are several aspects of the concept that must be brought together and integrated in order to be successful at it.
Understanding SEO.
First, a good understanding of SEO methods is a must. According to Michael Torbert, the keyword phrase should be used in the title, if possible, and as the alternative text in all photos. It should be used in the first paragraph, at least one, and ideally two, of the headings of the post, and three times in the body of the post, as well as at the end of the post.
What’s Affiliate Marketing And How Does It Work?
It needs to flow with the text and not be out of place. Too many keywords makes the content seem stuffed with them, not enough keywords raises the risk of low SEO ranking. The SEO algorithms are also constantly being updated and it behooves a user to stay on top of the updates by studying the process.
A great SEO plugin is All In One SEO, by Semper Plugins. Michael Torbert, owner of Semper Plugins, and creator of All In One SEO, coauthored a great book about SEO, titled All in One WordPress Desk Reference for Dummies.
Understanding Keywords
In order to be classed as a great keyword, or “low hanging fruit” as the saying goes, a keyword should have at least 300 searches per month, have less than 50 other websites that use that specific term or phrase, and an SEO ranking of more than 90.
A great keyword without any thought of positioning for SEO is useless. Great use of SEO with a lousy keyword has the same effect. The keyword needs to have value and the SEO presentation should be just that, optimized. Those two facts bring SEO and keywords together.
Keywords can be easily found with a good web based software keyword search app. One of the best in the business is known as Jaaxy. Jaaxy has several levels of membership from a free introductory Starter level to a professional Enterprise level.

So what is “SEO Keywords”? Pulling the two together…
SEO Keywords require attention to two different aspects of content. Search Engine Optimization, and relevant keywords. Plugins such as All in One SEO will help handle the SEO portion. The Jaaxy Keyword Tool will help with the other half of the equation.
There are a number of different useful tools included in the package, including a basic search option, which, for each keyword, shows the number of searches per month, number of other websites using that particular website, and the overall value of the keyword rated from 1-100.
The alphabet soup tool allows the user to type in a certain phrase and the tool will show, in alphabetical order, what the next suggested word in the keyword phrase could be, depending on what searches have been performed with that keyword.
A rank tracking option allows the user to check the rank of each keyword used in the website, and allows different intervals to search the term automatically. A great way for keeping track of keywords used in your website.
An affiliate program search tool allows the user to search the internet for available affiliate programs related to the search term.
There is also an option to save searched keywords for later use.

Thank You Steve,
That was a great way to describe SEO and keywords. I was unaware of the important of how often to use keywords throughout my articles, until now. You have answered all of my questions except for one. When I am writing content and targeting a keyword or phrase, should I use the exact keyword or phrase every time or can I mix it up a little.
I guess, as an example. If I wrote a review about Jaaxy, as you have, and I was trying to rank for “Jaaxy keyword research tool”. Instead of saying that so many times, could I mix it up and say Jaaxy keyword tool, or Jaaxy tool, etc and still rank for my main target?
I’m still new to the online world and if you could answer this, that would be a huge help and greatly appreciated.
Thanks again and best wishes,
Darren
Darren, glad I could help out! To answer your question, to be counted as an occurrence for the keyword, it’s important to use your keyword exactly how you researched it. Just by adding an “a” into a phrase can totally change the SEO results. That’s not to say you can’t use the wording differently throughout your post, it just means the SEO algorithms won’t recognize it as that keyword.
Thanks for stopping by and best of success to you!
